There is Hip-Hop and then there is Soulja Boy

First of all I'm not saying that Soulja Boy is a whack artist, I just want to challenge the custom that people have in calling Soulja Boy's music Hip-Hop music. Now I'm no music critic but I cansider the genre that was born to in the South Bronx to be a genre that focuses on message, the come the beats. But apperently now Hip-Hop is some sort of noise with words that make no sense and the lights, lets now forget the music videos with all the dang lights. Now, I'm not opposed to the advancement of the genre but Hip-Hop needs to evoluonate in way that keeps the core elements alive or else another genre will spawn in the already saturated world of music. Anyway, leave your comments about this topic.
